Wig wearing robber wanted in Akron

AKRON, OH (WOIO)- Akron police are looking for the suspect who robbed a cash advance at gunpoint.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the First American Cash Advance on South Arlington Street.

An employee reported the suspect entered the business and approached the teller counter. The suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled with an unreported amount of cash.

The suspect is a black man, 20 - 25 years old, 5'08" - 5'10", thin, wearing a woman's black wig, a black shirt, blue jeans and was carrying a large white purse.

Akron woman robbed at gunpoint while walking home

AKRON, OH (WOIO)- Police say a 49-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint while walking home around 2:00 p.m. Friday. 

Akron Police say the victim was walking in the 400 block of Sumner Street, when a gold minivan stopped and the passenger approached her on foot.
The suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded her purse. The victim gave the suspect her purse and he got back into the gold minivan and fled. 
The victim ran to a nearby house and asked them to call the police. 
The victim's purse contained over $600.00 in cash, a cell phone, a checkbook and miscellaneous identification cards.
The suspect(s) are two black males. The first suspect is 5'10" - 5'11", 150 lbs., and was wearing an Oklahoma City Thunder baseball hat, a black t-shirt and khaki colored shorts.
The second suspect is 5'05" - 5'08", 190 lbs., and was wearing all black clothing and had multiple tattoos on his face and arms.
The suspects vehicle was possibly a gold, Plymouth Voyager.

Man shot while driving in Akron

AKRON, OH (WOIO)- Police say a 41-year-old man was shot in the arm while driving a black, 2003 Land Rover.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Russell Avenue and West Bowery Street in Akron.
Two passengers in the Land Rover were not injured.
The victim drove himself to Akron General Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Akron Police say the suspects were driving a brown, newer Honda or Acura.

A storm system centered south of Ohio with bring a few showers to southern portions of Northeast Ohio this afternoon. I expect this to be light and to be limited to areas south of Akron. With still plenty of dry air in place the middle of the week will be dry. Out ahead of a cold front a few showers and isolated t-storms will be the focus of Thursday night into Friday.
