Trains collide in downtown Akron

AKRON, OH (WOIO)- Two CSX trains collided in downtown Akron early Thursday morning.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. near East Mill and Broadway behind Quaker Square.

Both cars were transporting various items, but nothing hazardous.

One train was coming from Pennsylvania to Ohio. The other train was coming from Virginia to Ohio.

Some train cars derailed as a result of the crash. No injures were reported, and there were no evacuations.

The accident remains under investigation.

Clean-up is expected to take a good part of the day.
