Akron Zoo discounts prices and changes hours for winter season | News

AKRON, Ohio – On November 1, 2012, the Akron Zoo will begin its winter season with a change in hours and admission. From November 1, 2012 - April 30, 2013 the zoo will be open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. During this time admission will be reduced to $6.00 per person.
The zoo will allow visitors to feed the penguins starting December 1, 2012 – February 29, 2013 when temperatures are 55 degrees or below from 11 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $3.00 at the Penguin Exhibit. The carousel will remain open through November and people can still feed the farm animals through the entire winter season.
The majority of the zoo’s animals will be viewable during the winter months. Most of the animals that cannot handle cold weather have indoor exhibits that make them viewable year-round. During the winter the zoo will be closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Starting November 1, 2012, zoo hours are 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and admission is $6 per person. Children under two are free and parking is $2.00. For more information visit www.akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.
